Before you begin

A few useful
answers.

Can work be planned around an occupied building?+

Include your operating hours, access restrictions and phasing preferences. Your contractor can assess whether a phased or after-hours schedule is feasible and what it would mean for the quote.

Who handles permits and accessibility requirements?+

Responsibilities should be defined in the contractor’s written proposal and agreement. Ask the contractor to identify required design professionals, permits, inspections and applicable accessibility requirements for your scope.

Can I request multiple spaces in one property?+

Yes. Describe each space, approximate size and priority in your project brief. You can also note whether the scope includes tenant improvements, shared building areas or an owner-occupied business.
